Permanently delete your FACEBOOK account

Ever tried to leave Facebook and found out they only allow you to "deactivate" your account? All your personal data, including photos, interests, friends etc will still be saved indefinitely! You don’t have to be a conspiracist to find this quite fishy (or simply annoying)!

Maybe you see no reason to leave Facebook yet?
In any case, information about how to close an account should be easily available to all members. Follow this blog site to keep the information handy the day you appreciate your privacy more than updating long lost “friends” of your life.

HOW TO DELETE

Go here - Delete Facebook 

Click "Submit" and follow the instructions.

Your account will be deactivated for two weeks, and if you DO NOT USE FACEBOOK IN ANY WAY during that period, your account is permanently deleted.

I REPEAT: Your profile isn't deleted right away! You must NOT log in to, or interact in any other way with Facebook for at least two weeks, as it will cancel the deletion request. That includes NOT logging in to Facebook using any client (like the iPhone app or IM:s like Pidgin), NOT clicking embedded Like-buttons on other websites, NOT logging in to other services using Facebook Connect (like Digg) etc etc.

Hey, while your're at it, delete all your browsing/forms history and cookies as well, to minimize the risk of accidentally using your account!

If you want out - stay out, mmmkay? ;)

This method is official and should be complete, i.e. no need to delete individual photos, comments, messages or items from your profile or anywhere else on Facebook! If you have any concerns whether your stuff is actually deleted (as opposed to being kept somewhere in the deep dungeons of Facbook's HQ) your best bet is to ask them using email: info@facebook.com.

Disable Facial Recognition in FACEBOOK

I rarely upload photos to my Facebook account and was surprised the other day when, after uploading a few vacation pictures, Facebook had identified the faces of the people in my photos and asked if I wanted to tag them. Of course, it’s not always accurate, but I was impressed at how Facebook got about nine out of 10 matches right, identifying the correct names with the faces. It made my tagging-time much lower, but it also creeped me out a bit. Where did this feature come from, and why wasn’t I notified of it?

The facial recognition feature, called Tag Suggestions, is selected as the default on Facebook, which, not surprisingly, has a lot of people upset. It’s really not hard to change the settings, but it’s a little annoying that you have to opt out instead of opt in. If you’d prefer to opt out and turn off facial recognition, here’s how:


1. Look to the upper-right-hand corner of your screen and click the Account drop-down menu.

2. Click Privacy Settings.

3. Select the Custom tab on the left-hand side of the column towards the bottom of the page.

4. Select the Customize Settings option at the bottom.

5. The second set of options on this page is “Things others share.” Click on the Edit Settings button under “Suggest photos of me to friends.”  

6. Here, you’ll see a dropdown menu on the right selected as “Enabled.” Click that and change to Disabled.


And that’s it! Once you disable the Tag Suggestions feature your friends won’t be able to automatically tag you in any photos. You may not see the option yet, but it’s coming. Facebook is in the process of rolling it out worldwide, so make sure to check back if you’re concerned about being tagged. If not, don’t worry about it and wait for the slew of email notifications from your Facebook friends telling you that you’ve been tagged in 30 photos. 

Reset / Remove / Bypass a BIOS or CMOS Password

BIOS passwords are used to add some extra security to computers. You can either set a password to prevent access to BIOS settings or to prevent PC from booting.
But sometimes this extra security might become a pain when you forget the BIOS password or someone changes your system BIOS password intentionally.
But there is no need to worry. There are many known ways to reset / remove / bypass the password:

• By removing CMOS battery
• By using motherboard jumper
• By using MS DOS command
• By using software
• By using Backdoor BIOS password

Now I'll try to explain each method one by one:

* By removing CMOS battery:

Almost all motherboards use a small coin sized CMOS battery to store all BIOS settings along with the password. To reset the password, unplug the PC, open the cabinet and remove the CMOS battery for approx. 15-30 minutes and then put it back. It'll reset all BIOS settings as well as the password and you'll need to re-enter all settings. If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour.

* By Using Motherboard Jumper:

Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

* By Using MS DOS Command:

This method works only if you have access to the system when its turned on because this method requires MS DOS. Open Command Prompt from Programs menu and provide following commands one bye one:

debug

o 70 2E

o 71 FF

quit

NOTE: The first character in the above commands is English alphabet "o" and not the number 0.
After providing the above commands, restart your system and it should reset the CMOS Settings along with the BIOS password.

If you are curious to know how it works? then let me explain the above commands:
In this method we are using the Debug tool of MS DOS. The "o" character present at first in these commands, outputs the values to IO ports. The number 70 and 71 are port numbers which are used to access CMOS memory. By providing FF value we are telling CMOS that there is an invalid checksum and it resets the CMOS settings as well as BIOS password.

* By Using Software:

There are a few software which can also reset CMOS settings or BIOS password or both within a few clicks. But as stated above you should have access to a system which is turned on and should have access to MS DOS or MS Windows:

* By Using Backdoor BIOS Password:

 
Some BIOS manufacturer put a backdoor password in BIOS which always works irrespective of what password you have set in BIOS. Its a master password which is used for testing and troubleshooting purposes.

As we know that facebook does not give us the option to download all the pictures of a album in one click. Does it mean that we have to download each and every picture of album separately. No, I have a freeware FireFox addon (Facepad) for you to save you from the trouble of downloading each and every picture.

2. After the installation of the facepad addon is complete restart your firefox browser

3. Right Click on any facebook album name or link and you will get an option to Download Album With Facepad

I find this tool amazing because it can turn a user from zero into hero. I understand that some students are adventurous and would like to install or configure the system the way they like it but they cannot do it with a limited user account. Hence, they find a way to secretly upgrade their limited account to a local computer administrator and now they can do whatever they want. We cannot set a BIOS password because if the students entered the wrong security password for 3 times, it’ll be locked and we’ll have to contact HP support and get them to reset it.
